Renewal, Release, & Forgiveness

Sunday Celebration Service with Rev Geo

The tradition and observance of Lent consists of the 40 days prior to Easter. This season of rebirth and new life before the celebration of Easter is upon us, once again! Sunday, February 21 is the first Sunday of Lent. This 40-day observance resonates in traditional significance: Jesus observed prayer and fasting for 40 days in the desert; Moses received the Ten Commandments when concluding a 40-day fast. Lent is a time of release and renewal. Resurrection, revival, and rejuvenation are all recognized as signposts along the journey of the 40-days before Easter. In the Easter tradition, we will consider the 7 statements of Jesus from the cross taken from the four Gospels. Join us this Sunday to consider Jesus’ statement, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” We’ll ponder the practice of forgiveness as a part of our 40 day observance of Lent.
